A Clever Approach to Wedding Favors on a Budget

By Jenny Smithers

We all know that getting married should be centered around romance, and not about obsessing about money and budget. But the fact is that for most of us, thinking about the budget is a major component of planning a wedding.

In the long run, brides may regret not giving wedding favors to their guests. A wedding favor clearly lets all those people who have been kind enough to attend your wedding (and give you wedding gifts) know that you appreciate them. Giving gifts is a way of thanking guests for being part of your special day. Keep in mind that while there is a long tradition of giving wedding gifts, there is also a long tradition of giving wedding favors as a thank you.

For those looking to save money, there are ways to cut corners and still make sure your guest leave with a gift. Your gift should reflect who you are as a person, as well as the overall style of your wedding. Consider baking homemade cookies and including a gift card. Another idea, which also happens to be eco-aware and eco-friendly, would be individually potted plants or seed packets. When your guests grow the plants you have given them, they are bound to think of you. In fact, they may think pleasantly about you every time they water that plant. If you happen to be a crafty in some way, consider incorporating your skills into your gift. Perhaps you can make candles or soap, either of which would make a fantastic gift.

The gifts to your guest should be something lasting, memorable or both. You want to choose something that will stay with them both in their minds and hearts for some time to come. After all, those who have attended your wedding were kind enough to give you not only a gift, but their time as well. Let them know that you were thinking of them and appreciated their efforts on your most special of days.
