Make Seating A Snap With Place Card Holders

By Andrea McClure

So you are planning the reception and you want to make sure your guest find their seats. Obviously this is one of the biggest headaches when planning weddings. You need to make sure that everyone is seated properly and that you made sure that you didn't put together two aunts that aren't on speaking terms or siblings in a middle of a feud. It is often hard enough when done by professionals, so how much more so for you the amateur bride. A great way to execute your seating arrangement is using placecard holders. Here are some ideas to help you look for the place card holders that will meet your needs

Make them visible. A placeholder that can't be seen is one not doing its job. Visible might mean different things depending on the place settings and flower arrangements. Find items that display the guest's name clearly and can be immediately seen as they approach the table. It will make seating happen more quickly when guests can identify where their assigned spot. Visible can mean different things depending on what style of place card holder you are aiming for so make sure to find something that achieves this purpose without clashing with the scenery

Use unique designs. This is another way to make sure your seating immediately draws your guests' eyes to what they need to know. If it has some distinct shape it becomes easier to identify. Try out different types, shapes, and colors. The main thing to keep in mind is that they attract they eye but at the same time don't mess up the design scheme of your place setting. Keep both goals in mind to make a balanced decision that you won't regret later when everything is finalized and it's too late to change it.

Take your guest's needs into account. Every person that comes to your reception will most likely be different having different physical abilities and some with handicaps. Keep that in mind when choosing and designing your place card holders. You might have an elderly guest who has poor eyesight. Or some one who is color blind think about each person on the guest list and see if you can find ways to use the placecard holder to make it easier to find their seat. A great idea is to call people on your guest list in advance to anticipate any such needs. Not only will it be appreciated it will help things go smoothly.

Find ways to personalize your holders. You can take the opportunity to make sure your place setting is easily recognizable with photos, special messages, and other decorative touches. The goal is make them stand out immediately for your guests. Personalizing not only meets this purpose it can turn seating cards into favors themselves. Something that your guests can take home with them as a memento of the occasion.

In the end the goal is simply make it easier for your place card holders to be seen. This will make it easier for people to get to where they are supposed to be seated. Some might wonder why it's necessary to put so much thought into them. However, as the saying goes, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Finding possible problems such as with your place card holders will only help your reception run much more smoothly. It will help unpleasantness and potential disasters remain distant concerns.
