Maid Of Honor Speeches Tips

By Skylar U. Sterns

In a wedding ritual, there is a woman accompanying and assisting the bride. She is the best friend or closest girl friend of the bride, serving as her maid of honor. At the reception, a speech or message is expected from her. Along with advices and some good stories to tell, maid of honor speeches generally are good luck wishes message.

When you are requested to be the maid of honor and expected to deliver a speech during the reception, how do you prepare for it? Do you get anxious at the thought, just like a best man would normally would? To many girls, the other duties of being a maid of honor seem like easier to do than doing the speech. Duties like selecting the dresses and the wedding gown for the bride after all can be done without sweat.

It is no different when helping send out invitation cards and decorating ceremony and reception venues. Even dressing the bride neatly and beautifully during the day is never a problem at all. During the ceremony, to carry the bride's flower bouquet, keep the ring until exchanging occurs, and to sign the paper as a witness are duties you can easily perform without being nervous.

Even to help the best man carry the gifts to the bride, to dance with him on the floor, and help re-arrange the venues are simple tasks to carry out. But when it is about the maid of honor speeches, why does it seem different? If you are like these girls, you too are probably suffering the jitters just by creating your own wedding speech?

Not to worry since there follow some guidelines when making a maid of honor speech. Firstly, you should begin by addressing the event. After introducing yourself to the guests, offer your congratulations to the couple . You can also thank the couple, and especially the bride, for bringing you as integral part in the whole wedding celebration. Say how honored you are for them trusting you to be their friend.

Next, you can divulge on the circumstances and time period for which you have become friends or related with the couple. You can tell everyone how the couple's love started, bloomed, and found its way to unite them as one. It would be also good if you include the place where they met and fell in love for the first time.

Your good memories shared with the couple through the years can be added, just to inform the audiences how you become connected with them. After which, tell how the bride is perfect for her best half by talking about her good qualities. Tell them as well that after braving through the storms, they ended up together as one now.

At the end of the speech, you can give them advices and insights about being married. And then propose your toast with a good luck message. You have to remember that any negative contents or anything that you know will be reason for discomfort are omitted from the maid of honor speeches. If you are still nervous after those tips, input humorous anecdotes or stories or have notes with you to avoid spoiling your moment.
