A Memorable Wedding Needs Charming and Unique Wedding Favors

By Andrea McClure

Every bride dreams of her perfect wedding. What constitutes perfect varies from person to person and can come in as many variations as there are brides saying "I do" every year. However all brides have one thing in common, they want a ceremony that is unique and specially tailored for them. As a bride it is your biggest moment and you want it to bear your personal stamp in every way possible. This makes details important and establishes why you would want to have unique wedding favors. Unique favors are an excellent method of making an otherwise ordinary marriage ceremony extraordinary by adding your own personal touch.

So, what's the big fuss about having unique favors for your guests? Well, a special ceremony is as much about the details as it is about the marriage itself. That is because the ritual normally involves a lot of symbolism. From the white dress to the old adage of a bride needing "something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue." A memorable wedding will have a lot of symbolism that is not only meaningful to the happy couple but also their friends and family. So what are the things to think about when picking party gifts that are fitted to your needs.

First think about the overall theme of your ceremony. This is a great way to personalize the event and put your own personal tastes to full use. A helpful hint can be how you and your future spouse met, a favorite destination, or your special song. Finding the right accents will best reflect who you are as a couple reflecting your shared values.

Another thing is to keep it simple and understandable. A wedding favor that is supposed to represent a series of impressionist art at a certain museum where you met will not be easily understood by your guests. Pick something that either has an image of a museum or a well known piece of art. Simple is better at conveying the special meanings in your marriage ceremony.

The next thing is to be considerate of cost. Symbolism doesn't have to be expensive. As a matter of fact it can be very easy to get the most bang for your buck which is what you always want to do. To use the same example you don't have to get a favor with the exact image of the museum where you met or the exact piece of art unless you are willing to pay the cash. By using more simplistic images you save money as well as make it easier for your guest to get the theme of your marital celebration.

The final consideration is to make it something practical. Unique does not have to mean useless. A wedding favor with a specialized design can be more memorable if its something the guest will use well after the wedding is over. A good example can be found in African weddings. In countries like Nigeria its normally common practice to give away cups, bowls, or other items monogrammed with the image and names of the happy couple. You don't have to go that far but it is definitely some thing to keep in mind when you are choosing the special items that you will give at your event.

In the end a unique wedding favor doesn't have to be over the top, it is something simple that will be only special to you. That is what will make it special and, by extension, your entire wedding will be extraordinary and memorable.
