Little Things That Can Save Your Marriage

By Bart Icles

Marriage has not been the same as before. About a decade ago, divorce us not yet as rampant as it is today. Now, the divorce rates have more or less doubled or even tripled. According to Divorce Magazine cited from the data gathered by the Americans for Divorce Refom, the countries with the highest number of new marriages that end in divorce last 2002 are Sweden (54.9%), Belarus (52.9%), Finland (51.2%), Luxembourg (47.4%), Estonia (46.7%), Australia (46.00%), Denmark (44.5%), Belgium (44.00%), Austria (43.4%), The Czech Republic (43.3%), Russia (43.3%), The United Kingdom (42.6%), Norway (40.4%), and Ukraine (40.00%). These are quite alarming figures, especially when you are thinking of keeping values intact. Divorce is now a trend that everybody seems to be jumping into without really thinking twice. Not only is divorce an emotionally draining ordeal, it also costs a lot just to be able to get out of the mess that you are in.

When you decide to get married, you, of course, have all the hopes of a great and happy future with your spouse. But of course, arguments here and there, misunderstandings now and then, and harsh words exchanged to and fro, especially when you are now spending everyday together with you better half, can put a really great strain into your relationship as husband and wife which, when happening oftentimes, can push you into breaking point and can, ultimately, propel you into deciding to break free of the entanglement for a breath of fresh air. You should be able to provide different alternatives so that everything will turn out for the better and so that you may be able to save your marriage.

To be able to save your marriage, you should keep on doing the sweet things that you have been doing as a couple. Try to not let your careers get in the way of whatever leisure time you both enjoy doing. It is best to keep a habit of surprising each other from time to time so as to spice up your lives all the time. Keeping the excitement and the romance going is a very simple thing that a lot of couples seem to be taking for granted, making their marriages end up in a rut which should have been avoided had they not taken each other for granted and let themselves be eaten up by worldly things.

You should always keep the communication lines open in order to save your marriage. Marriages usually leads to atrophy when communication lines get rusty. Write each other little love notes every once in a while just so you'll both be able to feel how important you both are to each other.

Remember, sweet little things that do not require much of an effort can save your marriage. Start doing them today.
