Live Bands For Wedding - A Good Idea?

By Abi J Ponton

Live bands for weddings are a wonderful entertainment option if you are looking for ways to make your even memorable. Bands provide a source of entertainment for every age group, or they can be a background scene, lending ambiance where guest can unwind and chat with each other.

When deciding on live bands for wedding, the internet is full of options. A simple google search yields a wealth of choices. It takes a little more than "google" to find the right band. The first thing you need to do is decide what kind of music you want for the big day (jazz, upbeat, classical, etc). Once you have this choice made, you need to streamline your search

Live bands for wedding will have probably already done a few weddings in the past. Any good band will also have a website or face book page with songs or videos on it for you to watch or listen to.

In order to make sure you have the right band for your day, call previous clients and get references. Another option is to go watch them play at a local venue where you can get a feel for their style.

Having a live band at your wedding requires communication. Make sure that you can get in touch with the band leader to ensure things get coordinated. Many people don't think about the work that goes into getting set up for a wedding, but the band must coordinate with the whole reception area to make sure things are set up right.

Your live wedding band will need ample parking, and close enough to the site to unload equipment. Another consideration for your band is electrical outlets. Make sure that it is easy for your band to unload, set up, play and break down. They will appreciate your efforts, and it will make the experience easier for everyone.

Don't forget to find out if your venue requires a license to play live music. The band will not necessarily take it upon themselves to check, and you don't want to find out you can't have music on the day of the event.

If your site has sound limiters, make sure to inform the band. With limiters, if music is played above a certain level the equipment gets cut off. This is not a problem if the musicians know ahead of time, and won't affect performance if they can make modifications ahead.

Once you have all the arrangements made with the live band for weddings on your special day, all you have to do is relax, enjoy, and pick the perfect song for that first dance as husband and wife.
