Unique Wedding Favors - Bridal Shower Favors

By Matt Hellstrom

It is customary around the world to give bridal shower favors or small gifts to the attendants of the bridal shower. Lately more and more people are asking the question "why do we give favors at the bridal shower if the couple will be giving favors at the wedding reception?" With finances in mind, many people believe that inviting them to the wedding is enough.

The presentation of bridal shower favors serves the purpose of thanking the attendees for taking the time and effort to be present at the bridal shower. If you take into consideration that the bride and groom to be are not the hosts of a bridal shower, it tends to be the appropriate thing to do to present bridal shower guests with favors.

It is always good to see the appreciation on someone's face when you present them with a gift, regardless of the occasion or event, even if it is only a small bridal shower favor. Some of the appreciation sticks in your memory years after the shower itself. There are different sentiments regarding bridal shower favors. To many it is just a novelty that needs to be there as part of the "things to do" and to others it is a sincere token of appreciation in the form of a souvenir. What makes bridal shower favors memorable is the aspect of fun, the significance it has with the wedding itself and the memories of the special time in a friend or family member's life.

With so many bridal shower favors to choose, where or how does one get started? A thing to do is start with your budget before anything else. If you're going to entertain 30 guests at the bridal shower and need to provide a favor to each of them at $4 a piece you will be spending $120 dollars on the favors alone.

A really useful and memorable idea for a bridal shower favor would most certainly be a key chain. You can literally find thousands of designs in all shapes and colors. A more personal choice would be to use a key chain of clear plastic. On the one side, you can fill it with a picture of the bride to be and on the other side an appropriate quote or personal message.

Very, very few people do not like chocolate and hardly any other sweets can compare to the decadent delight of a neatly dressed up piece of chocolate! Picture a medium sized chocolate heart filled with sweet caramel wrapped in shimmering cellophane tied with a golden satin ribbon. Who can resist such a bridal shower favor?

An idea that is both charming and long-lasting is a miniature flower pot with a tiny trailing plant inside. The soon-to-be bride gets a larger version of the plant of which the smaller plants symbolizes to be off-springs of the "mother plant". With this type of bridal shower favor, guests will be able to always remember the special bridal shower day before the wedding.
