Getting over an affair is tough stuff, no matter how you decide to handle it. Your partner has taken away your stability for the moment and has broken down your relationship.

Do not fall into the trap of thinking something is wrong with you, and that is the reason your partner lied to you and cheated. Only a coward cheats on their partner instead of telling the truth. Now you need to make a plan for how you will move forward with your life after an affair.

One of your choices will be to decide whether to remain with your partner. No one can make this decision for you. Are you ready to start over with that person and learn to trust again?

There is always the chance that you can work things out and get past all of your issues as a couple. Some couples survive and thrive, falling more in love after an affair.

Did you recently find out that your spouse has been cheating on you? If this is the case, you might want to confront him or her. To be honest, if this is what you want to do then go on and do it. Just be cautious in doing so as doing such may be dangerous.

It would be best to hold off the confrontation if you plan to do it alone. Try to analyze if your spouse is known to have a temper because confronting him about cheating may be putting yourself in a predicament and this is a fact if you want to end your marriage. You might want to do the confrontation and the ending of the marriage all at once should you plan to do such.

Let someone that you trust like the police, a friend or relative be on standby. And when your spouse gets violent with you about their cheating, immediately take action. Call for help instantly or get out of the house and do not come back until you are sure that they are no longer there or only return if you have the cops with you. Never endanger yourself during a confrontation with your cheating spouse.

Also be mindful of doing the confrontation with your spouse about cheating if you are not at all prepared to walk out the door if unavoidable consequences happen such as your spouse not wanting to leave. You may think that he should leave and not you since you have every right to stay " but this may not be your case. Will you be able to leave your house even for just a while should your spouse refuse to leave? If you are a parent - how about your kids? Set a plan for you and your children if you want to end your marriage.

Last of all; think hard about doing the confrontation if you do not have enough proof to back up the cheating. If you have not seen any malicious or suspicious records on his credit card or phone bills, and have not seen him with another person, wait until you are 100% sure that he is cheating as he will be able to wiggle out of that accusation. Worst case scenario is "your spouse in not cheating on you at all.
